488,455. Paddle-wheels. LANDI, A. MOLLICA-. July 7, 1937, No. 18856. [Classes 4 and 114] Paddle-wheel bosses 6 are mounted within a fixed casing 1 and carry on pivots 9 a number of blades 10 having thereon projections 12. Blades 10 are adapted to lie flat down on the outer face of the boss 6 for feathering and for their working position are forced up perpendicularly thereto by tappet members 11 guided in the boss and having at their inner ends rollers which move along a cam face 5 in a block 3. This block is adapted to be rotated by gearing 13, 14 for the purpose of altering the phase of action.
