488,052. Milk &c. cartons. TRIGGS, W. W. (American Can Co.) June 5, 1937, No. 15661. [Class 66] A milk &c. carton formed from fibrous material rendered liquid-proof with paraffin or the like comprises a rectangular-section body portion 11, formed by bending a sheet, and end closures 12, 13, held between ledges 17, afforded by inwardly directed grooves 16, and the turned over ends 18 of the body portion. The doublethickness top closure 13, formed from a doubled strip having the plies united by adhesive, affords an integral hanging tab 34 and is offset at the edges so that the parts 18 are flush with the main portion of the upper surface. Parallel scorings or cuts 24-26 in the upper ply and 28, 31 in the lower one define a flap adapted to afford a pouring opening when raised by a prising implement about a hinge line 32 defined by a further scoring in the lower ply. The shoulder 29 between the scorings affords a seating enabling the flap to be re-closed after partial emptying of the contents.
