Abstract

487,794. Lay figures. LAWRENCE, F. C., and DISPLAY INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 24, 1936, No. 35395. [Class 52 (v)] The waist portion 3 of a lay figure comprises a flexible element of sponge, cellular or crÛpe rubber or elastic fabric secured to the bust and hip portions 1, 2 which have transverse supports 11, 12 between which are fitted flexible tubes 8 connected at one end to one of the supports and engaged at the other end by rods secured to the other support. The flexible element 3 may be filled with kapock, feathers, &c. and may be reinforced by ductile metal rods ; it is cut open down the back and drawn together by lacing passing through eyelets or around hooks for adjustment. A stand 17 is secured to the support 12 and legs and arms may be provided having flexible portions at the joints similar to the waist portion. The head is connected to the bust by a flexible element 31. When the supporting rod 17 passes through the leg 20 it may have a piece of flexible tubing inserted at the position of the knee.
