Abstract

487,635. Rotary duplicating-machines. RITZERFELD, W. Aug. 6, 1937, No. 21743. Convention date, Sept. 30, 1936. [Class 100 (ii)] Copying documents.-Printed copies each comprising both constant and variable matter are printed from a single mirror-script original mounted on the drum 1 of a rotary manifolding- machine so that the lines extend in the peripheral direction, by associating with the drum two units 6, 7 each comprising a damping-pad and an impression roller. The units are adjustable by hand or automatically along rods 4, 5 and are retained in adjusted position by spring-pressed pins engaging holes 17 in the bar 5. The unit 6 comprises a damping-pad 8a and a roller 10 both of line width, adapted to be associated with any one of a number of lines on a part A of the original, and the unit 7 comprises a pad 9a and a roller 11 extending over several lines to print from a part B. The flow of damping-fluid supplied from containers 8b, 9b is controlled by valves 8c, 9c periodically opened by springs 19 whenever rods 18 engage recesses in the rod 4, the latter being oscillated from the machine drive. A sheet-support 12 is attached to either of the carriages 6, 7.
