487,464. Welding. OSNABRUCKER KUPFERUND DRAHTWERK. July 23, 1937, No. 20435. Convention date, April 21. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Making compound plates.-Metals and alloys are united by subjecting them to heat and to a pressure which is insufficient to effect any substantial deformation, but is sufficient to cause the surfaces to be united to lie in intimate contact, the operation being carried out in a reducing or inert atmosphere. A number of elements may be stacked in layers. Long bands or strips may be trated in sections. Loss of heat from the press is preferably prevented by layers of ceramic material. The plated products may be further worked by plastic deformation.
