Abstract
486,993. Shelves. DARBY, G. H., and HIGHAM, M. A. April 9. 1937, Nos. 10234 and 16161. [Class 52 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A cooking-stove, refrigerator, food storage cabinet, or the like is provided below and externallv of the oven or food chamber with a shelf or tray which is automatically brought into operative position by opening of the door and returned to initial position by the closing of the door. In one form, Fig. 1, a shelf 21 slidably mounted in guideways 22, 23 beneath the oven chamber is attached by a pivotal link 26 to a bracket 27 depending from the oven door 20. As shown in Fig. 7 the shelf comprises a plate hinged at 32 and operated by a stud 33 projecting downwardly from the door bracket 27 into a slot 30<111> formed in the shelf. In another form a hinged quadrant-shaped shelf is connected with the door bracket by a pivotal link. When in inoperative position the front of the shelf may be screened by a moulding 47 shown in Fig. 14 as applied to a refrigerator 40. The shelf 41 is connected to the door bracket 45 by a link 44. On opening the door the moulding is turned downwardly about hinges 48 by the forward movement of the shelf and on closing the door is returned to shielding position by the door bracket or by a spring.
