Abstract
548,656. Refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 1, 1942, No. 13. Convention date, Jan. 14, 1941. [Class 29] [Also in Group XIV] A metal drawer 14 for storing vegetables in the machine compartment 12 of a domestic refrigerator, or for stoves or other cabinets, has a horizontal rear flange 18 on the back wall 37a to conceal the compartment and prevent material falling behind the drawer when open. The front of the drawer is covered by a panel 19 having a flange making sliding and yielding contact with a sloping upward extension 21 of the drawer front so as to minimise noise in closing the drawer. The sides of the drawer are secured by screws 43 adjustable in slots 44 to angle irons 42 welded to the edges of the panel, and the bottom 37 of the drawer is adjustably screwed to brackets 49, Fig. 2 on channel section slides 23 running on rollers 53 within channel section fixed rails 22. Stop members 55, 56, Fig. 1 are provided on the rails and runners, and a projection 54 on the runner prevents tilting of the drawer. This projection may be lowered into a depression 57 in the rail to enable the drawer to be removed. The motor-compressor unit 13 of the refrigerator may be located behind the drawer, or, as shown in plan in Fig. 4, at one side of the drawer. In the latter case one set of rail and runner is associated with a panel 62 to which the drawer is attached.
