Abstract

486,346. Look -- out reflectors for vehicles. HARRIS & SHELDON, Ltd., and SELLERS, T. E. March 22, 1937, No. 8320. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] In driving-mirrors for vehicles of the kind mounted on a bracket outside the vehicle by means of a universallyadjustable clamp comprising a clamping-bolt having a part-spherical head seated in a socket in the back of the metal case carrying the mirror, a soft packing washer is interposed between the head and the socket to exclude moisture. As shown, a mirror 1 is mounted on a bracket 12 by means of a clamp comprising a bolt 4, a socket 3, a part-spherical shell 10, a distance piece 9, a clip 11, a washer 14 and a nut 13. The bolt 4 has a reduced portion 7 and a square portion 8 engaging a square hole in the clip. A rubber or leather packing- washer 6, of part-spherical shape and having a central hole, is interposed between the head 5 and socket 3. When the nut 13 is tightened, the hole in the washer engages the reduced portion 7 of the bolt.
