Abstract
984,676. Rear-viewing mirrors. A. P. HARVEY. March 20, 1961 [Dec. 20, 1959], No. 42830/59. Heading B7J. A rear-view driving mirror comprises at least two integrally formed reflector portions 10, 11, carried by a bracket 12 secured to a mounting 13 on a mudguard 9, by a universal joint 16, the reflector portion 10 being mounted above the reflector portion 11 and having an angular field of view indicated by the arrows 21 whilst the portion 11 has an angular field of view indicated by the arrows 22. With this arrangement, an overtaking vehicle will first be seen in the portion 10 and will move from right to left and then appear to the left of the portion 11 and to move to the right thereof as it comes almost level with the driving mirror. The two reflector portions may be formed from a single piece of material which is given the required shape by a moulding operation. Also the reflector portions may be convexly curved.
