Abstract

486,262. Insulators. SPENCER, L. C. June 28, 1937, No. 17938. Convention date, June 26, 1936. [Class 36] A trolley wire section insulator comprises an insulating body 11 consisting of interlocking metal plates 15 separated by insulation 19 and protected from the weather by an outer insulating shell 21, such as a wrapping of impregnated cloth or paper. End fittings 12, to which the trolley wires 13 are attached, are secured to the body 11 by bolts 16. The body 11 is protected from arcing and wear by the trolley wheel by a removable insulating sheath 22 of U-section. The insulation 19 is preferable moulded about the plates 15.
