Abstract
486,186. Centrifugal extractors. COMPAGNIE CONTINENTALE POUR L' EXPLOITATION DE BREVETS INDUSTRIELS. Oct. 15, 1937, No. 28121. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1936. [Class 23] The sieves or baskets of centrifugal extractors and similar apparatus are made of wire like elements 1 wound round supporting elements 2 mounted in suitable frames. At parts between the supporting members 2, the elements 1 are spaced apart by means of slight increases 5 in their thickness, or by means of two or three undulations in the elements, or by means of separate spacing pieces secured by welding. The means employed for spacing are narrow and cause little diminution of the draining spaces. The elements may be secured against radial displacement by bars 7 placed edgewise externally against the elements 1 and welded to some or all of them. The ends of the bars 7 are secured in the basket frame 6. In a modification, longitudinal members 8 have projecting portions 9 which act as distance pieces for the wire elements 1. The portion of the spaces between the elements 1 which follows the supporting members is protected by pieces 13 of wear-resisting metal such as phosphor-bronze or steel.
