Abstract
486,084. Wireless signalling. BASHENOFF, V. I. Nov. 25, 1936, No. 32315. [Class 40 (v)] A loop aerial for an all-metal aeroplane is mounted inside the cabin which has glass or celluloid windows. It is mounted so as not to obscure the view through the windows, the vertical limbs being spaced away from the walls, whilst the horizontal limbs may be placed close to the metal framework. It may follow the contour of the dielectric as shown at A in Fig. 1 where the nose of the cabin is fitted with a window, and at A in Fig. 2 where it is fitted around the transparent windscreen. The aerial may also be located outside the machine in a position where it closely follows the contours of a dielectric surface. The arrangement prevents frictional drag, reduces ice-formation, and minimizes the effect of rain-static. The aerial may be adjusted relatively to the plane of symmetry of the craft to compensate for wind " drift," or one end of the coil windings may be loaded relatively to the other end for the same purpose. Specification 473,866 is referred to.
