Abstract
485,772. Hydraulic jacks. DORPE, G. VAN. Dec. 21, 1936, No. 35064. Convention date, Aug. 29. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXII, XXVI, and XXIX] In an hydraulic jack with two or more telescopic cylinders, outlet passages in the cylinder walls or ends for allowing escape of fluid eaking to the front of the plungers or relieving excess pressure at the end of the stroke, communicate with extensible return tubing located outside the cylinders. The cylinders 1, 2 with their plungers 5, 6 connected to a supply pump by a pipe 3, are provided with valved outlets 7, 13 for the discharge into an external telescopic return pipe 9, 10, of fluid creeping to the front of the respective plungers, the outlet 13 being reached by passages 11, 12 and an annular channel 14. To prevent excess pressure at the end of the stroke, relief port 17<1> in the cylinder 2 is provided leading by passages 17 in the cylinder wall to passages 15 in an arm 16 carrying the return pipe, the passages 15 joining the valved outlet passage 13. The telescopic pipes 9, 10 may be replaced by flexible or linked tubing. The passages 17 in the cylinder wall, Fig. 6, may comprise milled recesses closed by plates 18 soldered &c. in position.
