Abstract

485,517. Wrenches. STEELE, G. A. July 7, 1937, No. 18893. [Glass 61 (iii)] A wrench has one jaw 1 rigidly carried by the handle 2 and the other jaw 3 carried by straps 5 provided with a spring gripping rod 7 and rockable within limits between stop pins 14 for gripping the work, the gap between the jaws being adjusted by a screw 9 threading through a bridge piece 6 connecting the straps 5 and having a round end 12 engaging a recess 13 in jaw 1. Instead of toothed V-shaped jaws 15, 16 the teeth 16 of the upper jaw may be arranged on a straight line as shown in Fig. 3 and those of the lower jaw concave, a recess or notch 17 beyond the innermost tooth of the upper jaw being arranged for receiving the innermost tooth of the lower jaw when the gap between the jaws is closed very small.
