Abstract

485,392. Moulding boxes. SHAW & SONS (SALFORD), Ltd., J., and SHAW, J. B. Nov. 30, 1936, No. 32693. [Class 87 (ii)] Relates to presses for moulding opentopped boxes and lids having an ornamental configuration common to the box and lid. The configuration is formed by undercut parts e<1> of retractible side walls e of the mould. The walls e and supporting walls f are interlocked with a floor part b secured to the fixed part c of the press. For moulding the lid, the ram and the floor are provided with extensions l, k of the shapes shown. When a box is to be moulded, the part l is removed and the part k is replaced by a plain part as shown in dotted lines. When an article has been moulded, the side walls are retracted, and the article is ejected by an ejector plate i connected, when a lid is made, by an extension h<1> to an ejector ram h. Thefloorextensionsmay be connected to the ram h to facilitate their removal and exchange. Heaters g, d are provided. The side walls may be held in position by wedges as described in Specification 481,763.
