Abstract

In a process of reducing materials containing tantalum or niobium or both to obtain the metals as such or as alloys, the reducing agent used is an alloy of one or more of the metals aluminium, calcium, and magnesium and one or more of the metals iron, nickel, and cobalt. The reduced product obtained may, for example, be an alloy containing specified proportions of iron, manganese, aluminium, silicon, tantalum, niobium and titanium. Specifications 467,483 and 467,484 are referred to.
