Abstract
483,546. Knitting. FRENZEL, R., and BAHNER, L. Aug. 14, 1936, No. 22407. [Class 74 (ii)] Fully fashioned stockings with French feet are knitted from the toe on a straight bar knitting machine the fashioning being carried out by widening which is effected by thread guide control. In one method when the traverse of the thread guide f is increased to include another needle the looping and distributing sinkers d are completely withdrawn into the sinker head e so that the yarn g can be led latterally past them, the yarn being correctly presented to the added needle when the needles rise again. The altered movement of the sinkers at widening is effected by a special eccentric which is put into use by a known controlling chain. In another method, Fig. 2 (not shown) the lower end of the thread guide is hinged to the upper part (or the guide is made flexible), and the lower end is rocked outwards away from the sinkers by a pressure member which is operated by a known lever and eccentric drive.
