Abstract
483,491. Telescopes. BAKER, F. \V. W., BAKER, W. E. W., and REYERSBACH, C. D. Oct. 20, 1936, No. 28531. [Class 97 (i)] In telescopes, particularly binoculars, in which the rays undergo a number of reflections between the objective and the eyepiece, the reflecting-means comprises two mouldings each formed with a prism-shaped recess, the mouldings being fastened together with the recesses at right-angles to each other so that reflection occurs at the inclined faces of the recesses. As shown, the mouldings 10, 11 are made from transparent synthetic resin and are provided with cavities 12, 14 each having the shape of the ordinary triangular prism used in prismatic binoculars. The mouldings are placed together so that the two recesses are at right-angles to each other and are united by heat and pressure. Cylindrical cavities 13, 15 are preferably formed in the mouldings to reduce the absorption of light. The path of the rays is shown by the arrows. The cavities 13, 15 may extend right through the material, the external orifices then being closed by glass &c. discs sealed in position. In this case the mouldings may be made of opaque material.
