Abstract

483,220. Electrolytic condensers. STEPHAN, F. C., and TELEGRAPH CONDENSER CO., Ltd. Dec. 22, 1937, No. 35458. [Class 37] To produce a pasty electrolyte, urea or a substituted urea is heated with an aldehyde to a temperature not exceeding 100‹ C. after which boric acid and a base, or an alkaline borate such as borax or ammonium borate are added, the mixture being again heated to the same temperature. The aldehyde may be a #-hydroxy-aldehyde such as aldol and this may be heated with an alkyl urea of the methyl type or a cyclic alkylene derivative of urea such as methylene urea. The bases which may be used are for example ammonium, sodium or potassium hydroxide, monodi- or tri-ethanolamine and ethylene diamine.
