Abstract

482,147. Vehicle windows. KIRKNESS, J., and KIRKNESS, J. Oct. 20, 1936, No. 28494. [Class 20 (iii)] Relates to windows of the kind comprising a quadrantal pane 3 which is pivoted about the axis 8 of the quadrant to swing from the closed position shown into the fully-open position, in which it is substantially concealed in a pocket or chamber beneath the window frame. According to the invention, the pane has a polished arcuate edge which is received by an arcuate channel 4 in the window frame when the pane is in the closed position. The pane shown is fitted to a vehicle door and is guided throughout its movements by the channel 4 which is semicircular in shape. One straight edge of the pane is mounted in a channel 6 which carries a bracket 7 supporting the pivoting spindle. The other straight edge is received by a channel 5 of the door when the pane is in the closed position. The opening movement of the pane is limited by a stop 11.
