Abstract
481,337. Hinges. GOLDSCHMIDT, M. April 10, 1937, No. 10249. Convention date, April 11, 1936. [Class 65 (ii)] A resilient bearing, particularly for vehicle springs, comprises a layer of rubber 3, thicker at its centre than its ends, is secured by vulcanization or by an adhesive between two thin metal sleeves 1, 2 both of which are of greater diameter at the centre than at the ends, so that the end portions of the rubber resist axial loads. In the arrangement shown, the inner sleeve 1 is clamped to a bracket 6 by a bolt and nut, while the outer sleeve 2 is pressed into the eye 7 of a spring and is secured against axial movement, and if required also against rotation, therein by a ring 8 having tongues 9 stamped out at its edges and bent to engage the spring eye 7 and the sleeve 2. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also states that the exposed ends of the rubber bush may be coated with oil-resisting rubber to protect the bush from oil and dirt. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
