Abstract

480,673. Television. PRIESS, W. H. June 25, 1936, No. 17663. Convention date, July 13, 1935. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] A single mirror 1 is supported and controlled by a torsion rod 6 vibrated electromagnetically at high frequency, and is simultaneously moved in a second direction by a second torsion rod 3 vibrated electromagnetically at low frequency, and both rods and their associated masses vibrate at their natural frequencies. The rods are so supported at their ends 4, 7 that the bulk of inertia reaction is concentrated at those points. The ratio of the moment of inertia of the mass of each system to the elasticity of its rod is constant for all normal variations of temperature. Synchronism is maintained by scanning a bright line 18, 19 along the edges of a scanning mask 17. Specification 461,128 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a fixed prism for analyzing the scanning light in a number of colours, each of which is incident on a separate photoelectric cell with its amplifier modulating the output of a generator. A similar prism is used at the receiver. The receiving screen has a translucent granular surface and a mirror backing. The surface comprises a substance which glows under illumination with a persistence such that the period of glow is equal to that of the picture frequency. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
