Abstract
1368718 Television CARL-ZEISS-STIFTUNG [trading as JENAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN] 8 Aug 1972 [9 Aug 1971] 36891/72 Heading H4F [Also in Division G2] A device which may be used to magnify an image produced by a deflected light beam modulated with a television video signal comprises a bundle of fibres 8 juxtaposed at one end 7 and separated at the other. Adjacent this second end, but spaced therefrom, is a backprojection screen 5, the conical spread of light from the individual fibres giving rise to a magnified image on screen 5. Sheet 3 is effective to compensate for irregularities in plates 2 which bear the fibres, e.g. by adhesion. Plate 4 may be of glass. The fibres may be coloured, in which case it may be necessary to use a complementary filter prior to the input face. To compensate for unequal fibre lengths a grey filter may be located at the input face. Three deflected modulated light beams in the three standard primary colours used for colour television may be magnified to produce a colour image.
