Abstract

<PICT:0480335/III/1> <PICT:0480335/III/2> In inflammable-gas detectors of the type comprising a differential gas thermometer with electric contact operating a signalling circuit, one bulb of the thermometer being externally provided with a catalyst, the following improvements are embodied together or separately, viz.: (1) the bulb A is surrounded by a cylinder 6 of inert material having the same thermal conductivity as the cylinder 7 of catalyst surrounding the bulb B; (2) the contact wires 1, 2, Fig. 3, are situated partly within the bulb A so that closing of the circuit heats this bulb and breaks the contact again, producing an intermittent signal; (3) the thermometer is of rectilinear form and may have two small bulbs 1, 2, Fig. 2, in its capillary part. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also all detectors of the type referred to which are sensitive to very small increases of temperature, namely less than 12 DEG C. and preferably only 3 DEG C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
