480,001. Wearing-apparel. BOWDEN, W. July 13, 1936, No. 19340. [Class 141] An endless expansible neck or other band for garments comprises a hem or slot 7 in which is inserted a strip 8 of elastic web which is secured to the hem or slot whilst in a stretched condition by over-edge stitching 9. The stitching 9 passes through the material of the hem and through the strip 8 at 10 and passes clear of or over the edge of the hem. The stitching is so tensioned that it not only prevents relative movement of the strip and the hem but also causes the edge of the hem to be slightly puckered as at 12. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 458,338..
