Abstract
479,674. Centrifugal pumps. KLEIN, SCHANZLIN, & BECKER AKT.-GES. Sept. 2, 1937, No. 24003. Convention date, Sept. 2, 1936. [Class 110 (i)] In a duplex. centrifugal pump wherein the first section P<1> feeds a preheater leading to the suction inlet 3 of the second section P<2> and wherein axial pressure is balanced by relieving discs 6, 7 at the last stage of the second section and by providing the perforated impellers 9 of the first section with annular bearing-surfaces 10, leakage from the inlet 3 to the last stage of the first section is prevented by providing an intermediate chamber 13 in which the pressure is higher than in the adjacent sections and in which the temperature is equal to or lower than that in the inlet 3. The first section P<1> has a discharge chamber 15 leading to chamber 13 by aperture 14. Cold water may be supplied to chamber 13 at a higher pressure than that in inlet 3. The relieving chamber 16 communicates by pipe 18 with inlet 3.
