Abstract
<PICT:0479295/III/1> <PICT:0479295/III/2> <PICT:0479295/III/3> A device for moistening or gumming envelopes, labels, and the like, comprises a liquid-container 1, one or more rollers 2, and a guiding and pressing device in the form of two separate and independent bars 6 provided on top of the container laterally of the applying roller. The bars 6, which may be slightly curved upwards at 7, may be adjustable as regards their lateral spacing from the roller 2 and as regards their height above the cover 5 of the container. The cover 5 may be curved upwards at 8, and the roller or rollers may be covered with a moisture-absorbing material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes p modified devices such as that shown in Fig. 3 (Cancelled), wherein two rollers 12, 13 are mounted by spindles 16 engaging slots 18 located in the side walls of the container or in extensions of the cover 24. The rollers, which may be of metal, may be furnished with longitudinal and/or transverse grooves or recesses, and the cover 24 may be hinged at 14a. The guide bars may be adjustably mounted by means of pins 15a and slots 14. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
