Abstract

Aqueous formaldehyde solutions are concentrated by distilling under a pressure above atmospheric with the use of a dephlegmator column in such a way that the proportion of reflux to distillate is greater than 2 and preferably between 4 and 8. A solution containing in addition one or more volatile substances, such as methyl alcohol, may be used.
