Abstract

479,164. Electrical precipitation apparatus. LODGE-COTTRELL, Ltd., and LODGE, L. March 1, 1937, No. 6014. [Class 39 (i)] The collecting electrodes are made of wood, preferably in the form of boards 4 secured between rails la, 1b and kept moist. In the construction described the boards are fitted between a number of vertically spaced rails supported on projections on the inner walls of the separating chamber. Water is supplied from a perforated pipe 7 resting in a channel formed by the bevelled edges of the upper rails. The lower rails may have their upper edges 8 bevelled to form troughs for collecting water or may be provided with separate supply pipes. Absorbent material 5 such as asbestos board, woven cloth, matting, or material composed of vegetable fibre may be used as a facing for the boards and clamped at its upper and lower edges by the rails. The apparatus may be of the plate or tubular type.
