Abstract
13,222. Row, J. June 11. Air, cooling, moistening, filtering, &c.-In an air filter for use in ventilation systems, the air is forced to take a zig-zag course, caused to impinge agains cooling-surfaces, split into streams, and brought into contact with excess of moisture. In the form shown, vertically-corrugated perforated plates a are held apart by spacing-bars b, provided with holes b' and notches b<1>, and clamped together by rods c, d. Water is supplied through the perforated floor of a chamber e, the excess falling into a dripchamber g. The plates may consist of any suitable reticulated material, such as woven wire, woven metal strips, " expanded " metal, or chains or rods arranged so as to break joint. Though preferably corrugated, the plates may be quite flat or be bent V-shape ; they may be inclined to the front edge of the filter, and may be arranged so that the air passes either through the interstices or meshes, or through the spaces between the plates.
