Abstract

A composition for filling the interstices between the conductor and the dielectric of an impregnated paper insulated cable consists of a mixture of mineral oil or oil-compound with inert insulating powder such as silica, glass, mica or colloidal kaolin. A suitable composition consists of 75 parts by weight of heavy mineral oil, 25 parts of resin and 300 parts of silica.
