478,170. Insulators. QUARTZ & SILICE. May 7, 1937, No. 13080. Convention date, May 15, 1936. [Class 36] An insulator, particularly for use with high-tension lines, has the metal parts 7, 8, which support the insulator and the conductor, embedded in a part 6 made of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Mycalex," and the part 6 is connected by welding to one or more parts 10 made of glass or of ceramic material covered with glass, such as glazed porcelain. The part 6 can be joined to the glass part 10 by fusion, using a vitreous flux, or it may be enclosed entirely by moulding the glass around it. The Mycalex may be refluxed by a product containing small mineral crystals embedded in a glassy matrix.
