[Class 36] [See also Group XI] An oil- and vacuum-tight connection between an electric leading-in conductor in the form of a solid bar or a conducting metal coating on a solid or tubular insulating carrier and the wall of a vessel of inorganic insulating material of high softening point and low thermal expansion, such as ceramic material, quartz or quartz glass, is produced. by interpositioning a layer of a glaze glassflux, enamel flux or the like, between the conductor and wall and heating the wall, conductor and glaze, or the like, to the fusion or sintering temperature of the glaze or the like. The conductor may comprise a silver coating on a carrier of identical or similar material to that of the wall.
