[Class 20 (ii)] Scaffold clamps comprising hinged clamping members for receiving the scaffold poles between them, have a separate looking member pivotally mounted on the locking bolt and provided with two arms to coact with jaws on one clamping member to effect clamping. In one form, as shown in Fig. 1, a central bearing block 20 with grooves on opposite faces disposed at right-angles is used, and coacting therewith on each side is a clamping member 24 hinged to the central block and provided with an aperture flanked by jaws 33. Each clamping screw 27 screws into the central block and has rotatably mounted thereon a two-winged locking member 30, the wings 32 of which coact with the jaws 33 to effect clamping. A stop 35 may be provided on each clamping member. In another form, Fig. 11, the jaws of each clamping member may be connected at their outer ends by a bridge-piece 40 and multiple opposed recesses 43 may be provided through the clamping member to allow passage of the wings of the locking member during hinging of the clamping member. Two hinged clamping members may be provided for each scaffold member, and in this case the clamping bolt screws into the outer end of one of the clamping members. Longitudinal movement of the locking member on the clamping bolt is prevented by a stop ring disposed beneath the locking member in a groove of the bolt. In another form, Fig. 9, the clamping block is formed in two relatively rotatable parts 48, 50 so that the angle between the scaffold members may be adjustable. In still another form, Fig. 13, arranged for joining scaffold tubes end to end as described in Specification 477,485, a joint-pin 57 with central flange is used to enter the ends of the adjacent tubes and a clamping sleeve formed in two hinged parts 55, 56 is used, the joint-pin in this construction being also hinged to the joint of the clamping members; the jaws of the part 55 are recessed at 58 to receive the wings of the locking member 30.
