Abstract

476,920. Electromagnetic switches. ERRICKER, R. M. May 4, 1937, No. 12663. [Class 38 (v)] An electromagnetic step - by - step mechanism operates a contact member in the form of a movable bridge piece which alternately completes and interrupts a circuit. As shown in Fig. 2, the solenoid 16 when momentarily energized attracts the core 13 on the lever 12 against the spring 14 and so causes the spring - controlled pawl 17 to engage the ratchet 20 which is stepped round one tooth. Secured to the shaft carrying the ratchet is a cam 20<1> having projections adapted to engage a spring-controlled contact lever 21. The cam projections are half the number of the ratchet teeth so that successive energizations of the electromagnet cause alternate makes and breaks between the movable bridge piece 21 and its co-operating fixed contacts.
