Abstract

476,598. Aircraft provided with rotarywing systems. NAGLER, B. June 12, 1936, No. 16474. - Convention date, Feb. 8. [Class 4] A flying-machine comprises a normally autorotative rotary-wing system or rotor 5 adapted to be tilted, and an airscrew 3 driven during starting by a common engine 2, means, e.g. a variable pitch airscrew or a changespeed gear in the airscrew drive, being provided for varying the proportion of power transmitted from the engine to the rotor and airscrew ; two surfaces extend in the direction of the airscrew slipstream, one of the surfaces 10 being fixed and being adapted to counteract the airscrew reactionary torque, and the other 11 being adjustable to produce a reactionary couple about the rotor axis. The rotor drive includes a free-wheel coupling and the rotor is mounted on a universal joint 7. The surface 10 is formed by giving a wing-like cross-section to a fairing surrounding the rotor supporting- structure.
