Abstract
475,985. Supply meters. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. Oct. 7, 1936, No. 27194. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1935. [Class 37] A maximum-demand electric supply meter is provided with means for controlling the maximum demand measuring periods in accordance with different tariffs, comprising a multiple tariff control switch which together with the meter is common to a plurality of parallel circuits, each of which includes a pair of coacting contacts that are periodically actuated, the period between actuation of the contacts of each pair being of different duration in each circuit. The duration of the period of measurement of the maximum-demand meter 1 is varied by a swash plate 2, adapted on rotation to close in turn sets of contacts 3, 4, 5. The plate 2 is adjusted to close one of these sets of contacts according to the tariff operative, the contacts being respectively in series with contact members 6, 7, 8, each of which is connected to the meter 1. Each of the contacts 6, 7, 8 is in the form of scissorslike members, spring-held in contact with rotating cams 9-11, one member being slightly longer than the other, so that as the recess in a cam comes opposite the ends of the members one falls before the other and thus the circuit to the meter is interrupted momentarily. The cams are rotated through gearing 15 .. 17, on a common shaft, the gearing being such that the cam 9 rotates once every half-hour, cam 10 once every fifteen minutes and cam 11 once every ten minutes. By this means according to the position of plate 2, and to which of the contacts 3 .. 5 are closed, the circuit of the meter is completed through one of the contacts 6 ... 8, and the duration of the maximum-demand period is determined according to which of these latter contacts is in circuit.
