Abstract
475,137. Door knockers. NETTLE FOLD & SONS, Ltd., and KETLEY, A. J. May 21, 1936, Nos. 14393 and 15791. [Class 65 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] A cap block 4 to which one end of a knocker 14 is pivoted is formed with a lug 5 which passes through an aperture 3 in the face-plate 1 and forms a pivot for one end of the hinge pin 7 of the flap 8 covering the insertion slot 2. The block 4 is clamped to the plate by the engagement of a screwed lug 9 with a threaded sleeve 10, the latter also receiving one of the bolts 11 by which the fitting is attached to a door. In a modification, the pin 7 engages in one arm of a right-angled bracket, the other arm of which is threaded on an extended screw 9 and clamped between a nut and the facing plate, the screw 9 also acting as the bolt securing the fitting to a door. According to the first Provisional Specification, the aperture 3 may be triangular, &c. or split into two apertures, one for the lug 5 and one for the screw 9 ; the lug 5 may carry the screw 9 and need be only partially drilled to take the pin 7 in which case the blocks must be capable of outward movement for insertion of the pin ; and the pin 7 can be replaced by short pins carried by the lugs 5 or by ears 12 on the flap 8. According to the second Provisional Specification, the flap 8 is mounted in ears turned back out of the face-plate.
