Abstract
474,713. Spray-producers. MATHER & PLATT, Ltd. (Loepsinger, A. J.) Jan. 6, 1937, No. 369. [Class 69 (iii)] An atomizer comprising coaxial air and liquid nozzles has a liquid nozzle i mounted on a hollow piston g sliding in a casing a and movably acted upon by a spring h to close and clean the air orifice e in a plate d mounted at the end of the casing a. Within the hollow piston g is a plunger j carrying a cleaning rod k passing through the liquid nozzle. Movement of the plunger relatively to the piston g is effected by a lever m pivoted in the casing passing through a hole in the piston and bearing against the plunger. Liquid is supplied by a pipe c and compressed air to the forward part of casing a. Normally, both orifices are closed by the action of the spring h acting on the piston g. On admitting compressed air the piston g is forced back opening the orifice e and at the same time the rod k is withdrawn from the nozzle i by the lever m.
