Abstract

474,683. Valve generating circuits. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and WILLANS, P. W. May 4, 1936, No. 12631. [Class 40 (v)] Voltage pulses generated by changing the current through a coil are caused to give a rapid charge to a condenser or to set up current in a second coil, the condenser charge or the coil current being slowly reduced to complete a saw - tooth cycle. As shown in Fig. 1, the voltage pulses are generated on the anode of a strongly backcoupled valve 1 arranged as described in Specification 463,972, and are fed through a rectifier 5 to charge the condenser 4. The condenser is slowly discharged through a diode valve 7, or a pentode valve, or a resistance. In Fig. 2, the positive voltage pulses on the anode are fed through a rectifier 8 and set up current through a coil 9 the other end of which is connected to a point of higher positive voltage than the normal anode voltage. Current builds up in the coil during the voltage impulse, and falls gradually thereafter as the shunt rectifier 10 becomes conductive. The coil 9 may be the scanning-coil of a cathode-ray tube, or may be coupled thereto.
