Abstract

520,824. Valve generating circuits. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., BEDFORD, L. H., JOFEH, L., and STEVENS, W. H. May 10, 1938, No. 2660/40. Divided out of 519,668. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to an oscillation generator in which a saw-tooth voltage is developed across a condenser, the rapid charge or discharge of which, at flyback in the case of television scanning, is effected by a thermionic valve, and in which the saw-tooth voltage is applied to the grid of an output valve. The output valve supplies a saw-tooth current to an inductive load, a resistance being included in series with the discharge valve and so arranged that during flyback the potential drop in this resistance is superimposed upon the condenser voltage. In this way the current through the valve is cut off throughout the highly positive excursion of its anode at flyback. The Figure shows a condenser C 1 charged through resistance R 1 and discharged by a valve V 2 in series with resistance R 2 . A feedback coupling through condenser C 3 ensures that the discharge valve V 2 is held open throughout the high potential excursion of the anode of the valve V 1 . Synchronizing signals may be applied at the point Sn and are amplified by the valve V 1 and applied to the grid of the valve V 2 by the feedback coupling as positive pulses.
