[Classes 96 and 140] In apparatus for coating a flexible web, e.g. paper, coating material is supplied to the nip or nips of one or more pairs of juxtaposed, variable-speed rolls, and passes from one of these to a train or trains of rolls which distribute the material and transfer it to a coating roll or rolls. The apparatus described is also described in Specification 474,596.
