474,613. Vehicle attachments to facilitate jacking. GOTH, A. P. M. May 2, 1936, No. 12483. [Class 79 (iii)] In jacking arrangements for vehicles wherein the jack is applied to an abutment on the vehicle frame whilst, to prevent sagging of the suspension spring when the frame is raised, the wheel axle is connected to the frame by a pivoted hook-arm brought into engagement therewith by means of a rearwardly extending operating rod, the rod is formed with recesses by which, under the pressure of a spring it is held in positioning engagement with a part fixed to the frame which also forms the jack abutment member. The arm d, which may be mounted on ball bearings on a pivot pin c inside or outside the frame longitudinal a, may be, formed with a series of hooks e for selective engagement with a lug or pin h on the axle or with a single hook for engagement with one of a number of pins or holes in a plate on the axle. The arm is moved into or out of engagement by means of an operating rod which extends rearwardly over or through the jack abutment member b and is held in position, under the pressure of a spring n, by engagement of one of a pair of recesses l therein with a pin or projection m on or with the edge of a slot s in the abutment member.
