Abstract

474,502. Endless-chain elevators; escalators. FLOHR AKT.-GES., C. Dec. 19, 1936, No. 34923. Convention date, Oct. 16. [Class 78 (i)] An endless - chain conveyer comprising conveyer members running on rollers, for example an escalator, is provided at the positions at which it changes its direction of travel with auxiliary endless conveyers which support the chains or parts of the conveyer connected to the chains, independently of the rollers so as to relieve these rollers of pressure. In the embodiment shown, an escalator comprising steps 1 supported by rollers 3 on tracks 4 is provided with conveyers 8 having members 7 which engage under the chain spindles 2b. These conveyers may be driven by the escalator through the members 7 and may be provided with separate driving means to overcome their inherent friction. The tracks 4 may be dispensed with at the parts corresponding to the conveyers 8.
