Abstract

473,766. Colour kinematography. FINLAY. C. L. May 2, 1936, No. 12478. [Class 97 (i)] In the production of colour films by a two-, three-, or multi-colour process, an incident beam is divided into two or more separate beams, at least one of which is condensed to fall on an area of film smaller than that which receives the remaining beam or beams. As shown, the divided beam c is focused on a standard film f through. a red filter A while the other beam d is condensed by a lens g to fall on a smaller film, which may be in the form of a bipack to obtain two colour records. In preparing the positive film, the image from the standard film f is printed in blue the same size on the positive film and the other two images are enlarged to the same size as that of the blue image and are printed in superposition thereon and are coloured respectively yellow and magenta. In a modification, the beam d may be divided into two beams each falling on a separate film of smaller size than the film f.
