Abstract

473,405. Saddles. VETTER, F. April 3, 1937, No. 9515. [Class 136 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] In a cycle &c. saddle of the type in which the frame 4 of the top or seat 5 is extended forwards beyond the peak and is hinged or pivoted at 3 to the base-bracket 1 by means of forked parts on either of these members, the hinge or pivot comprises moulded rubber distortional members axially compressed between the movable and stationary metal parts of the hinge or pivot so as to be prevented from movement relatively to such metal parts at the contacting surfaces. In the form of pivot shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the rubber member 8 is of double conical form, and is compressed between similarly-shaped parts 6, 7 on the relatively-movable members 1, 4 by means of a bolt 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, two rubber members 9, 10 are formed as cups having conical walls. In another construction, two rubber rings are clamped between cup- and-cone shaped metal parts, while in a further form, an axial rubber sleeve and two flat rubber rings at right - angles thereto are employed.
