Abstract
473,190. Hair curling appliances. UHLMANN, M., and WEBER, G., (trading as HECKER, ELECTROTECHNISCHE FABRIK, E. A.). April 3, 1936, No. 9859. Convention date, April 3, 1935. [Class 131] A hair-curling device comprises a bipartite clamp 1 for holding a flat strand of hair close to the scalp, a winding rod 2 adapted to be detachably secured to the clamp and having a number of winding pins 3 on one side, and a heating clamp 4 adapted to be placed over the rod, the hair, commencing from the tip, being wound on the rod which is inclined relatively to the strand of hair and to the clamp, the inclination being changed after each complete rotation of the rod by turning it about the centre of its longitudinal axis. Accordingly, the hair is wound on the rod in 8-shaped windings with the two loops of the 8 inclined in opposite directions. The rod has flattened ends which rest on angle-iron supports 12 secured by screws 13 to the clamp. The upper portion of each support has a pin 16 passing through a hole in the flattened end of the winding rod. The heater, shown also in Fig. 3, consists of a jaw 8 and a smaller jaw 7 and current is supplied through contacts 5, 6. The heater is secured to the clamp 1 by means of supports 11 which may have pins to engage resiliently with holes in the supports 12.
