Abstract

472,261. Pulley-blocks. NICHOLS, H. T. March 18, 1936, No. 8140. [Classes 78 (ii) and 78 (v)] In a travelling block for use in well-drilling operations, the sheave supporting frame plates 15, 16, 17 have plates 24 riveted to their lower parts for the purpose of making the weight of that part of the block which is below the shaft 11, greater than the weight of the part disposed above it. Alternatively, the plates may be replaced by integral projections, such as the parts 8a, 9a on the outer plates 8, 9. The plate 18 on the faster side of the block is not loaded. One end of the operating rope 32 is anchored to the plate 8 by leading it through an apertme 36 therein and round an integral boss 29, the free end being then secured by clamps 35 to the rope. A cover plate 33 retains the eye on the boss.
