Abstract
471,892. Vehicle steps. ARMSTRONG, WHITWORTH, & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., SIR W. G., and ROSS, R. Jan. 10, 1936, No. 915. [Class 103 (iv)] Vehicle steps, operatively connected to a fluid pressure or electric motor, are mounted to slide horizontally against a counterbalance weight or spring which tends to retain them in a retracted position. As shown in the Figure, a fixed step 2 and two retractible steps 4 are provided, the latter being guided by rollers 5 in guides 3 and linked to a lover arm 7 connected to a shaft 9 having a counterweighted arm 8 which is operated to extend the steps 4 by means of a piston rod 11 connected to a piston 12 of a fluid pressure or vacuum motor.
