Abstract

471,345. Machinery guards. HERBERT, Ltd., A., and MORRIS, P. A. Aug. 27, 1936, No. 23523. [Class 80 (iv)] In lathes wherein a bar movable relatively to a part of the machine is adapted to engage a bracket for supporting purposes, the trapping of an operator's hand between bar and bracket is prevented by providing a piece of rubber on the end of the bar or over the hole in the bracket. A rubber sleeve 14 frictionally engages the bracket 13, extends beyond the end thereof nearer the bar 12, and rests against a shoulder 14 thereon. The bar itself may be provided at its end with a rubber cylinder 16. In a modification, the bar is adapted to coact with different tubular brackets carried by the tool plates on the faces of a turret, and each bracket has a rubber sleeve secured by a clip. The outer end of each sleeve is flared and the lower edge slightly cut away.
